Introduction in
Bollywood Music
Looking at it from an outside perspective, it is pretty easy to say
that Bollywood music is a type of music which comes from the India and
its surroundings. However, the situation is much more complicated than
that.
In essence, India is the most representative
country for Bollywood music, but some would argue the origin of these
songs. The main language used in lyrics is Hindi for Indian songs and
Urdu for Pakistani songs. The modern side of this sort of music has
started to gain popularity in the 20th century, but Bolllywood music has
a more profound history.

Some of the most attractive songs of the last century have broken state
boundaries and they gained world wide popularity. One of the first
recognizable pieces of music is “So ja rajkumari”, from Zindagi. This
lullaby was sung by Kedar Sharma and Kundan Lal Saigal. On the other
side of the historic string we can take a look at “Chaiyya Chaiyya”, the
song played at the opening and closing scene of Inside Man.
These are just two of the many representative Bollywood songs. This type
of music has always been popular in India and it is starting to spread
in many other locations around the globe.
